Around 9.30pm on Thursday, a National Youth
Service Corps member who passed out from the program that same day and an undergraduate of the University of Port Harcourt together with an unidentified young woman were shot dead by unknown gunmen at
Rumuotakara, near UNIPORT campus in the Choba area in Port
Harcourt, Rivers State.
The graduating Corper was celebrating with his friends and were apparently drunk
when the car conveying them suddenly skidded off the road and ran into a
shop. No life was lost in the accident but their was an argument between the owner of the shop and the occupants of the car. It was at that point that unknown gunmen appeared in an SUV and shot the Corper and his two other companions. "The gunmen immediately drove away without any challenge," an eyewitness said
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ben Ugwuegbulam, said security agencies had begun investigations into the matter.
When will all this senseless killing stop? The police should put more efforts into finding criminals and prosecuting them thereby serving as a deterrent to other criminals to be. This happens so often because the criminals know they will get away with.
Nawa o.Rivers state don dey fear me!!
