As part of the plan to intervene in the nation’s ailing
aviation sector, the federal government as put in place a funding system to assist the Nigerian
airlines to purchase brand new
aircraft. The federal government is negotiating with aircraft
manufacturers to supply
brand new aircraft at globally competitive price to Nigerian airlines
and funds to make the purchase will be provided by the government on stringent conditions and at very low interest rate, a single digit rate.
This clarification was made on Channels TV weekend breakfast
programme; Sunrise, by the Managing Director of the Federal Airport
Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr George Uriesi. This is an impressive move by the federal government. With new planes, our air travel will definitely be much safer.
