AKWA IBOM GOVT. BANS CELL PHONE IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Henceforth, any student found with cell phones in public secondary schools within school hours will be severely punished. The Akwa- Ibom State commissioner for Education, Mrs Eunice Thomas has warned.

The commissioner said that her action was to address the long observed distraction due to use of cell phones by students in public secondary schools and to ensure maximum utilisation of the present administration’s huge investment in the educational sub-sector and achieve the government’s dream of producing quality products from the free and compulsory educational policy of the state government.

Thomas assured that the measure is not to victimise teachers but to ensure that the job committed to them do not suffer.

She however vowed to continue taking an on-the-spot decision as to punishment at the premises of any erring teachers as well as schools and school heads to avoid being influenced by the society on behalf of such offenders. Do you support this move by the AKS government?

ALHAJI YERO SWORN IN AS KADUNA STATE GOVERNOR

Deputy Governor of Kaduna state, Alhaji Mukhtar Ramalan Yero has been sworn in as the governor of Kaduna state following the death of the state governor, Mr. Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa in a helicopter crash in Bayelsa state yesterday. The oath of office was administered on Yero by the Kaduna state Chief Judge, Justice Rahila H. Cudjoe at the state’s Government House .

Chief Akpabio was  conferred with the award by the Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Dr. Sunday Ola Makinde, at Immanuel Cathedral of the church in Itiam Etoi, Uyo was rewarded for his faith and service to God, humanity and the church.

NGOZI NWOSU IS REALLY SICK, APPEARS ON WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE

Nollywood actress and Fuji House of  Commotion Star, Ngozi Nwosu is really sick and is a shadow of her old robust self. She has kidney related problems and needs help. Mr Seun Oloketuyi was on the 'who wants to be a millionaire' show yesterday and won N1m on her behalf. Those present at the show yesterday couldn't help but shed tears when she was brought into the game show premises yesterday.

UPDATE: NKIRU SYLVANUS KIDNAPPED!

Details of the kidnap is still sketchy but I heard the one time actress and now Special Assistant on Public Affairs to Imo State Governor,  Nkiru Sylvanus has been kidnapped.  Her friends sent out the message this afternoon. The kidnappers are asking for N100m. Dear God, what is this country turning into? There is a kidnap case virtually everyday and plane crashes happening way too often, who is to save this country?

Update: Nkiru Sylvanus was kidnapped in Owerri, Imo State along with her personal assistant  this morning, December 16, 2012. She was last seen on the set of a movie last night in Owerri. She was kidnapped while she was in her house. 

The story was confirmed by Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN) President Ibinabo Fiberisima.

‘We are trying to liaise with her state government to find a solution to it. It’s unfortunate that people can do things like this to people who make them happy‘, the AGN President lamented.
