Over 21 Nigerians are facing death sentence in Jarkata, the capital of Indonesia w for various
offences such as drug peddling and two of them, Samuel Iwuchukwu Okoye and Hassan
Anthony Nwaolisa, were executed on June 28, 2008, while one Augustine
Ogbonna died under mysterious circumstance in prison custody in
September, 2008. 10 would be executed this week if the Nigerian government don't put efforts and pressure on the Indonesian authorities.
During the visit of the Indonesian president, Susilo Yudhoyono, on Saturday, President Jonathan asked for a stay of execution of
those on death row while the two countries explore ways for the exchange of
prisoners and mutual legal assistance.
Yeah, I know nobody sent them to go into drugs knowing what the consequences are, still, a lesser sentence than death is more desirable. I don't support the capital punishment.
