WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS: NIGERIA 1 - KENYA 1

The World Cup qualifying match between Nigeria and Kenya took place today in Calabar and ended in tie; 1-1.  Kenya’s Harambee Stars scored after the first 45minutes and Super Eagles as usual, scored in the second half of the game. Professor Chinua Achebe, one of the world’s most celebrated writers, and author of the classical novel, ‘Things Fall Apart’, is dead. He had been hospitalized recently in Boston, Massachussets where he passed away at 82 years. He was a professor at Brown University in the United States since 2009. So sad, we have lost a gem. RIP sir.

ANOTHER POLICE BRUTALITY; MAN KILLED BY DRUNK POLICEMEN

Eze Okoro, a 46-year-old man in Lagos was allegedly shot dead by drunk Nigerian Police officers recently in front of his house at 1, Oguntolu Street, Ijaiye, Ojokoro area, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.
But the police have denied taking part in his murder.

According to sources, the policemen had been drinking for about six hours at a hotel nearby before they gunned down the man while he was enjoying evening breeze in front of his house after work .
After shattering his waist with bullets, the policemen who were said to have come from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Ikeja, forcefully took his corpse away, perhaps to cover up their heinous act and dumped it in a mortuary at Yaba.

Renowned evangelist and founder of the World Soul Winning Evangelical Ministry, Prophet Timothy Obadare, died in a private hospital after a protracted illness in Akure on Thursday at the age of 85.

BOAT CARRYING 166 PASSENGERS SINKS IN CALABAR

A wooden boat carrying 166 people from southeast capsized with only two known survivors, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said on Tuesday. The boat left on Friday, 15th March,  from the remote town of Oron, in Cross River state and was heading to Gabon.
