Residents of Wole Madariola Street, Aguda, Surulere, Lagos have been asking questions about what pushed Chidike Oyeka, a graduate of Madonna University, Anambra, to stab himself repeatedly thereby taking his own life.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the Chidike on April 19, 2013, took a kitchen knife and stabbed himself repeatedly until his intestines were disembowelled. Our correspondent, who visited his parents’ home where the incident occurred, learnt that the victim recently concluded his National Youth Service Corps programme.

"I’m passionate. Sometimes people say that men like me like to substitute words but when you say a man is temperamental he might be. Given the space I grew up in, that I operate, built my trade and my lifelong interests, you’re given to so much pressure sometimes and you break under it if you don’t know how to handle it. From the onset, we got into it based on faith, with no idea of what to expect."

WOW! NIGERIAN/SOUTH AFRICAN DANCERS DANCE TO KUKERE AND OLIVER TWIST ON BGT

                  

You guys need to watch this. Two female Nigerian dancers and one South African dancer called CEO Dancers auditioned at the Britain's Got Talent show this week and they danced to Iyanya's Kukere and D'banj's Oliver Twist. You can see the judges loving the song and their performance.  The girls were put through to the next round. Give it up for Naija!

AGAIN?! FIVE YEAR-OLD GIRL RAPED FOR 4 DAYS BY NEIGBOUR IN INDIA

The 5-year-old rape victim is covered by a sheet as she is transported to a specialist unit from Swami Dayanand Hospital, Delhi, today

A five year old girl is fighting for her life after she was raped by a neighbour in India. She was kidnapped while playing outside her home and was held captive for four days. She went missing on Monday and was found on Thursday when someone heard her cries for help.The neighbour is believed to have repeatedly raped the child, mutilated her genitals and tried to strangle her. Specs of blood can be seen on the sheet used to cover her above.

Doctors found ‘foreign objects’ inside her genitals including a 200ml bottle and parts of a broken candle. She also suffered injuries and bruising to her chest, lips and cheeks.  The Doctor who examined her said it was ‘one of the worst cases’ he had ever seen, and that the next 48 hours will be crucial in determining her chances of survival. 

My heart is so heavy right now 'cos I have a lil' girl and I cannot begin to imagine what that poor child must have gone through. Pls say a prayer for this little one.  This is the third rape of a minor in India this month, all the girls were raped by neigbours. A student doctor also died from the injuries she sustained while she was raped in bus in India last year. This is one case too many, the Indian government needs to wake up and fight this barbaric and ugly trend with all they've got.

Two weeks ago, many families mourned, following the death of no fewer than 80 people, including 57 passengers of a commercial luxury bus, which collided with a fuel tanker in Ugbogui, on the Benin-Lagos expressway and burst into flames. The victims were burnt beyond recognition and were given mass burial last week. However, today the family of Kenneth Chinedu Nwaokoro, a 24-year-old final year student of Information Technology of Caritas University, Enugu, who survived the accident, is rejoicing.

This lucky young man, from Imo State, was returning to Enugu to complete his final year project, after visiting his brother in Lagos. He is currently on admission at the Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu. Narrating what happened and how he survived, Nwaokoro told Saturday Sun: “When we left the park to embark on the journey, our bus was half filled; so the driver picked passengers along the road until the bus was filled, except for the seat beside me, which I did not allow anybody to occupy.

DEPUTY GOVERNOR OF SOKOTO'S SON DIES IN CAR ACCIDENT

28-year old Luqman Mukthar Shagari, second son of the Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Mukthar Shagari is dead. He died on Thursday, April 18th in a horrific car accident on his way to Sokoto from Abuja when he lost control of his car.

Luqman and his friend Ghaddaffi in the front seat died instantly while the passenger  at the back survived the accident. Luqman's car was burnt beyond recognition (pictured above). He is survived by a wife and a young son.
