Yep! You heard right. Laptops, LCD Tvs and other 'not so cheap' items were given as souvenirs at the wedding of Huwaila and Aisha, the lovely daughters of Vice President Namadi Sambo. The event, referred to as 'Mothers Night' is the first ceremony of the two-city wedding of daughters and it took place at the International Conference Center (ICC), Abuja on Saturday 1st December.  The Nikkai is holding today in Kaduna. Aisha is wedding Mukhtar while her sister, Hauwila, will be joined with Awalu.

50 NIGERIAN GIRLS USED AS SEX SLAVES RESCUED IN GHANA AND COTE D'IVOIRE

50 Nigerian underage girls, between the ages of 16 and 25, working as sex slaves were rescued by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and Other Related Matters (NAPTIP)  in neighboring Ghana and Cote d’ Ivoire.

The girls were apparently victims of human trafficking and three suspects, acting as their slave masters, who have admitted to the crime have been arrested and will be prosecuted. 10 girls were also rescued in July, 2012 from Ivory Coast, bringing the total number of girls rescued this year from West African countries to 60.

AMERICANS OUTRAGED AS PSY PERFORMS FOR OBAMA AT CHARITY CONCERT

President Barack Obama warmly greeted PSY at the White House Sunday night, despite the rapper's anti-American lyrics

You tube sensation, Gangnam style artiste PSY,  performed at a White House charity event on Sunday, and this has pissed off a lot of Americans. Why, you may ask. There is a video circulating the internet which showed the rapper at a concert back in 2004 singing an anti-American song titled 'Dear Americans' with the lyrics "kill those fucking Yankees who have been torturing Iraqi captives…kill them all slowly and painfully,' "Kill those f---ing Yankees who ordered them to torture ... Kill their daughters, mothers, daughters-in-law and fathers ... Kill them all slowly and painfully.” and smashing toy American tanks. 

 Psy apologized as soon as the news broke, claiming the concert was years ago and his words were a reaction to the Iraq war but Americans called for PSY to be removed from the lineup of artistes to perform at the annual 'Christmas in Washington' benefit at the White House. Instead, he not only performed but was also  personally greeted by the president on Sunday night.  Do you think it was wrong for the Obama administration to allow PSY perform infront of the President?

OKONJO IWEALA'S MOTHER KIDNAPPED BY UNKNOWN GUNMEN

Professor Kanene Okonjo, mother of the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has been kidnapped. She was abducted yesterday around 1.47pm at the gate of the palace of the traditional ruler of Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State, Prof. Chukwuka Okonjo, who is her husband, by a gang of heavily armed men. Her husband had travelled out of the town.

The kidnappers, numbering about 10, were said to be lurking around the palace until the woman and her maid came down to offer some drinks to workers at the gate. Eyewitness said as soon as the woman came down from the main building, towards the gate, the criminals also moved in from the gate to grab and push her into a waiting Golf Volkswagen car.

Her husband, Obi Chukwuka Okonjo, a retired professor of Economics, is the traditional ruler of Ogwashi-Uku. The kidnappers are yet to make contact with the family of their victim.

Rapper and reality TV star of 'Ice Loves Coco' , Ice-T is furious with his wife Coco, saying she made him feel and look like shit after pics of her and another rapper AP.9 surfaced on the internet Friday with the two looking pretty friendly in Vegas. They were seen dancing, hugging, cheek-kissing and holding each other really, really, close.

CoCo tweeted about the incident when the pics first popped up saying ... "Please guys I'm happily married. Sometimes fans and friends take silly pics. It's harmless." More of the controversial pics and Ice T's response via twitter after the cut...

63-YEAR-OLD WIDOW WITH ANUS CANCER NEEDS HELP

63-year-old widow, Mrs. Janet Ogbonna, an  indigene of Imo State, is suffering from malignant cancer of the anus. Her son, Uchechukwu, has practically abandoned his university studies to help his dying mother. She has  been rejected by the family of her husband because of the illness. Her son, Uchechukwu, was in tears as he speaks about his mother's pains. He is calling on the Imo State governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, to come to the aid of the family. She needs N10.8 million for treatment in India.

Uchechukwu's words, “I am no longer thinking of my school; even to feed is a problem. I cannot feed in that condition that I see my mother day-in, day-out. My mother is in pains. She cannot sit down; she cannot even stand up right. Do you know how my mother sleeps, she sleep on her knees daily as if she is praying. ‘I want government at all levels to hear her case. I want my mother to live again because that is all I have. My father died at a very tender stage of my life my mother has been taking care of us. I don’t want to lose her.”

At  the time of this report, the owner of their one-room apartment in Refinery Road, Effurun in Uvwie Local Government area, Delta State has served the family  quit notice. Pls, if any government official or anyone capable of providing help in any way is reading this, kindly come to the aid of this woman.

8-YEAR-OLD AMARACHI UYANNE WINS FIRST EDITION OF NIGERIA'S GOT TALENT

Amarachi Uyanne has won the first-ever Nigeria’s Got Talent. The 8-year-old dancer from Benin City, Edo State, beat nine other contestants and was crowned winner in front of a studio audience yesterday, Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the grand finale held at Bamako Studios, Ikeja, Lagos. She walks away with a cash prize of N10m, amongst other prizes.

Amarachi who turned eight in July is the youngest contestant on the competition. Judges Kate Henshaw, Dan Foster, Yibo Koko all seemed pleased with the result. Congrats!

5 PEOPLE, INCLUDING 4 STUDENTS, DIE IN IBADAN AUTO CRASH

 Five people were feared dead in an auto crash in Ibadan in the early hours of yesterday. I heard five of them were students including a young lady. According to an eye witness account, the victims just left a relaxation point at Ajeigbe area of Ibadan metropolis and were heading towards Mobil Filling Station when the accident occurred. The driver of the Toyota Camry in which the students were, was driving recklessly and, in the process, lost control and skidded off the road running into an electricity pole at Oni and Sons Bus Stop and then somersaulted until it crossed to the other side of the dual carriageway and collided with a BMW car  driving towards Challenge area killing the owner, who was said to be coming from a night vigil around 5am, on the spot. Very sad. May they RIP.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO GOV. GODSWILL AKPABIO, A MAN WORTHY OF EMULATION

The governor of Akwa Ibom State, His excellency Godswill Akpabio turns 50 today, 9th December. It is pertinent to mention a few of what the governor as done that makes him stand out amongst his colleagues; he has transformed the landscape of Akwa Ibom State and tarred over 300 roads, and built five flyovers in just one term in office. He has turned Uyo (once a rural town) into one of the most beautiful cities in Nigeria. Also is the completion of the airport he met at site-clearing level, the completion of Ibom Power Plant, the ongoing construction of the Tropicana Entertainment Centre, 20th Anniversary Specialist Hospital (also on-going), two underground pipe-jacking systems (the first of their kind in Africa), the E-Library (the first of its kind in West Africa), execution of over 4,000 inter-ministerial projects,to mention a few.

Wish more governors and politicians will learn from him. He is truly a role model of what a true leader should be and the kind of person to lead this nation. We the people if Akwa Ibom are proud of you. Happy birthday sir, I wish you many more fruitful years ahead.
