18-month-old Oluwafeyikemi Elegbede is lying critically ill at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi Araba, Lagos. She has been diagnosed with Wilms’
tumour (or nephroblastoma) — a rare type of kidney cancer that typically
occurs in children, but rarely in adults. Because of the urgency of her
condition, Oluwafeyikemi needs N1.5m for surgical operation and other
treatments, which include radiotherapy and chemotherapy sessions. Her mother first noticed the lump in June, 2012 and they have been to several hospitals before she was diagnosed.
Her father, Mr peter Elegbede, has exhausted all he
has on his daughter’s failing health and appealed to good-spirited
Nigerians to come to his child’s aid. He has sold his car and other valuables as Oluwafeyikemi’s
