The footage of a natural and relaxed Marilyn Monroe on an afternoon in New York, taken by 15-year-old Peter Mangone, was lost for almost 50 years. Monroe invited star-struck Peter to film her one afternoon as she made her way around Fifth Avenue. In the photos, the iconic movie star looked extraordinary, natural and beautiful.
The footage was found in 2002 (47 years later) by Mangone's brother, Louis, while clearing out their family home. Peter Mangone, who died last month, was convinced he had thrown it away but was grateful it was later found.
"No one ever captured her like the [15-year-old] kid, because
she wasn’t threatened, she wasn’t afraid. It wasn’t going to be in the
paper so I got the real girl." Peter said in an interview in 2006. The footage will be exhibited as a tribute to Peter Mangone. More pics of the fresh-faced beauty after the cut...
