The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is planning to personalize vehicle number plates to help track offenders. This was announced on Monday by the The Sector Commander of the Corps(FRSC), in Niger, Mr David Usman.He said when operational, the owner of the vehicle would own the number plate not the vehicle.
If you decide to sell your vehicle at any time,
you detach your number plate from the vehicle and keep it. When you
have a new vehicle, you register it with the number. The implication of the new system is that when you have a
registered vehicle in your name, you don’t give your vehicle to people
you can’t vouch for and if you decide to sell your vehicle without removing the number
plate, any offense committed by the new owner would be counted against you,
the former owner.
