CHAMPIONS OF MBANG'S SPELLING PRODIGY EMERGE ADMIST TEARS AND EMOTIONS

Thursday the 16th of May will remain in the minds of over 1000 people who were present at the Sheer Grace arena to witness history. Mbang's Spelling Prodigy is the first inter secondary and primary school spelling competition to hold in Akwa Ibom State. The Primary schools are Kings and Queens school Uyo, Pegasus school Eket, Rayfield international School Uyo,Tender Hearts school Abia,Infant Junior International School,Aunty Bassey Schools,Fulllife International Schools while the Secondary Schools are Airforce School Ibesikpo, Infant Jesus Secondary School,Ritman Collage Ikot Ekpene,Pegasus High School Eket,Bright Future Collage, Redemption Academy Aka Itian, Nigerian Christian Institute,Methodist Boys High School oron, All Weather Secondary School Eket, Adiaha Obong Girls School Uyo, Jarvic Collage.

The event started and was dedicated to God by His Eminence Dr.Sunday Mbang CON. Mr Ini Mbang also known as Brandiny in his address said he decided to name the competition in honour of his father who was the Prelate Methodist Church Nigeria, Former National President Christian Association of Nigeria and co-chairman Nigerian Inter-religious council with the Sultan of Sokoto because and who is a lover of good education. The competition was also an avenue for the students to meet with the great religious leader .

The competition was to honour His Eminence during his lifetime. Mr.Ini Mbang also thanked Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited,Nigerpets Structures and Globacom for their support of the competition. In February 2014, there will be Mbang's Spelling Prodigy Akwa Ibom edition and the Mbang's Spelling Prodigy National Finals while schools from other states in Nigeria will compete against each in April 2014. The representative of Mobil Nigeria Mr.Cornell Udeagwu said Exxonmobil was pleased to be associated with an event such as this because Mobil places high value on the education of children. He further said that Mobil will always support anything that adds value to the society. Mr Ola who represented Globacom said Globacom will never relent on helping students in Nigeria to increase their unlimited potential and that Globacom was also proud to be associated with Mbang's Spelling Prodigy.

After a very tough competition the judges Prof.Imelda lawrence Udoh(Linguistics department University of Uyo,Dr.Ima Emmanuel (English department ,University of Uyo), Eyo of Project Fame season 2 and Darlene Benson of Nollywood  presented Pegasus primary school Eket as the champions of the Primary school segment and Bright Future Collage Uyo as the Champions of the Secondary School segment.  His Eminence Dr.Sunday Mbang presented the prizes, medals and trophy. After the trophy presentation Prelate Mbang congratulated the Schools and adviced them to keep reading because there was no such thing as a spelling competition in the 40's and 50's, so they were lucky to have such an event that builds them. He charged them to prepare and work hard because other schools will work harder to win in the next edition.
