ACCESS BANK BOSS, AIG-IMOUKHUEDE, TIPPED TO BECOME THE NEXT CBN GOVERNOR

According to sources close to President,  Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and the Goodluck Jonathan have tipped that the Group Managing Director of Access Bank Plc., Aigboje I. Aig-Imoukhuede, might be succeeding Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the CBN Governor. “If all goes as planned, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede will become the next Governor of the Central Bank,” a source said.

Some claim that the banker's closeness to both Mr. Jonathan and Ms.Okonjo-Iweala helped him to cover up his bank's involvement in the $6 billion oil subsidy scam that rocked Nigeria last year.

Current CBN governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has revealed he will not be seeking a second term at the end of his current five-year tenure. His term as Nigeria’s current governor of the CBN will expire in April, 2014.
