ANOTHER PROMISING YOUNG LIFE CUT SHORT IN BROOKLYYN SHOOTING

Rolland Wallace, 13, was short dead by another teen last week in Brooklyn. His killer,17-year-old suspect, Akbar Johns, is believed to be in a gang. Words between two groups were exchanged and the younger boy was shot in the back.

The poor communities and neighborhoods in New York like Ronald Wallace’s Brownsville, suffer from violence from jobless young men who turn to drug dealing and gangs and who don’t care who they hit as they shoot at each other.

His relatives, friends and colleagues had great things to say about the young boy.
He was a born athlete, who helped his team win the dozen trophies that lined the altar next to flowers woven into basketballs and broken hearts. He was also a dancer, smooth, uninhibited and graceful as he “got light” on the dance floor.
Since June, police say nine children have been shot in the city, including 4-year old Lloyd Morgan, who was killed in the Bronx; 2-year-old Ariyanna Prince, also in Brownsville, Brooklyn; and 3-year-old Isaiah Rivera, who was shot in both legs in Bedford-Stuyvesant in July.

Ronald is survived not only by all four of his grandparents, but by his two great-grandmothers. It’s not natural.

This isn't right, it's just not right.  RIP Rolland.
