SEVERAL SECURITY OPERATIVES MURDERED BY CULTISTS IN NASSARAWA STATE (GRAPHIC PHOTO)

Several security operatives including police officers, SSS and Civil Defense personnel in Nassarawa State were murdered on Tuesday May 7th when they were sent by the Nassarawa State Commissioner of Police to arrest the cult leader of a notorious militia group called 'Ombatse' (a cult group of the Eggon people of Nasarawa State) at Assakyo Village in Lafia, Nassarawa state.

The state government wanted to arrest the chief priest because the group had been causing security concerns in the state. Unfortunately for the police officers sent to pick the man up, as they approached the Ombatse Shrine in a forest, members of the militia group who had laid ambush for them attacked and killed plenty of them. Many of the police officers were burnt beyond recognition and 8 out of the 11 police patrol vans used to convey the mobile policemen for the operation were burnt by the militia group.

The police command later said that only 17 out of the 90 police officers, minus SSS and NSCDC personnel, who went on the mission returned and all with various degrees of wounds. President Jonathan had to call off his planned visit to Namibia on Thursday because of this sad incident.

Nine girls, forced into pregnancy at a ‘baby factory’ in Imo State ,yesterday spoke of how they became victims. The nine were arrested by the police yesterday after initially escaping during a raid of the ‘baby factory’.Their arrest brings to 26 the number of victims rescued from Ahamefula Motherless Babies Home, Umuaka in Njaba Ciouncil Area of the state. They are aged between 14 and 25.

The visibly exhausted girls said that they were held against their wish by the proprietor of the so-called motherless babies home simply known as Madam One Thousand. The victims are all from Imo. They said their parents were unaware of their whereabouts.

PHOTOS: MAN CRUSHED TO DEATH IN LAGOS

So sad. A man identified as Adeolu Adeleke popularly called Baba Ibeji (father of twins) was killed yesterday, Friday, May 10 in Marina, Lagos, after a mast which fell off a 2-storey building landed on him, crushing him to death. According to eye witnesses, the deceased who sold telephone accessories in Marina met his untimely death when he dashed across Marina Street to fetch a waterproof cover for his goods as it was about to rain but was crushed by the mast as he made his way back to his shade.

One of the people who witnessed the incident and a very close friend of the deceased said Adeleke was warned not to enter the rain because of the strong wind but he refused. “I told him to forget about the goods since the wind was blowing strongly, but he said he would hurry down there quickly not knowing that he will not return,” he said.

A Pastor Daniel Omowunmi, whose property was affected in the ill-fated Dana flight 992 which killed over 153 people on board, as well as approximately 10 other persons and caused injuries to many people on the ground. Locked the main gate of the Dana office at Allen Avenue and blocked the entrance with his Toyota Sports Utility Vehicle Yesterday Wednesday 8 instant.

Omowunmi, who arrived Dana office at 5.30am, brought with him three iron chains and padlock which he used to lock out all employees of the company.

IS ASARI DOKUBO ABOVE THE LAW? SAYS IF HE IS ARRESTED, NIGERIA WILL BE HISTORY

Guys, I'm so sorry for not blogging till now, had a very very rough day. There's nothing as terrible as having car trouble right in the middle of the road, under very heavy rain, with a baby in the car. Made me realize that nobody is ready to assist you for free in Lagos, even to push a car. Anyway, I'm home now and at your service.

Mujahid Dokubo-Asari is the leader of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force and the former President of Ijaw Youth Council and he has dared the  House of Representatives and leaders of northern Nigeria to arrest him if they can. This is coming after members of the House, Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger State and northern leaders said the leaders were cowards if they do arrest Asari-Dokubo for threatening the whole nation by saying there will be no peace if Jonathan is not reelected in 2015.  “I am not afraid of arrest. I am saying it bold and clear without mincing  words, that the consequences of my arrest, Nigeria will be history. The last time Obasanjo arrested me, my arrest reduced Nigeria oil production to 700,000 barrels per day.  This time, it will reduce it to zero barrel, and we will match violence with violence, intrigues with intrigues. We are ready for them. Goodluck Jonathan will complete his tenure of two terms, whether they like it or not. I am daring them to arrest me if they can. If they don’t, they are cowards and shame on them.”
