ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE MOBILE NUMBER PORTABILITY

Read the interview granted by the Director, Public Affairs of the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), Mr. Tony Ojobo, on the much talked about Mobile Number Portability (MNP) which will take-off today;

What is MNP?

It is a kind of service that will enable Nigerian telecom consumers to switch to service providers without necessarily losing their numbers. In other words, it is a number for life. You have your number and you can determine the network of choice. If you are dissatisfied with the service provider or maybe you are not satisfied with the tariff or the services or the way they attend to you or all of that, this gives you the opportunity to take a walk away from your service provider to a new service provider with your number. What that does is to put power in the hands of the consumer in the sense that the consumer now becomes the king. You have the power to determine who serves you.

Residents of Wole Madariola Street, Aguda, Surulere, Lagos have been asking questions about what pushed Chidike Oyeka, a graduate of Madonna University, Anambra, to stab himself repeatedly thereby taking his own life.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the Chidike on April 19, 2013, took a kitchen knife and stabbed himself repeatedly until his intestines were disembowelled. Our correspondent, who visited his parents’ home where the incident occurred, learnt that the victim recently concluded his National Youth Service Corps programme.

"I’m passionate. Sometimes people say that men like me like to substitute words but when you say a man is temperamental he might be. Given the space I grew up in, that I operate, built my trade and my lifelong interests, you’re given to so much pressure sometimes and you break under it if you don’t know how to handle it. From the onset, we got into it based on faith, with no idea of what to expect."
