OMOTOLA JALADE EKEINDE MAKES 2013 TIME 100 ICON LIST

TIME magazine has released its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world and Omotola made the list. She was referred to as the queen of Nollywood. Check the full list here - Time100.time. Read what the wrote about her below;

The world’s most productive English-language film industry is not Hollywood but Nollywood. Employing a million Nigerians, Nollywood enthralls millions more who come for the thrills, the uplift and the artful agitations of Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde — the Queen of Nollywood.

Called OmoSexy by her fans, she has made 300 or so features, from the 1996 Mortal Inheritance to the 2010 superproduction Ijé, shot partly on location in Los Angeles. Married to an airline pilot, she wedded on a flight from Lagos to Benin. 

Jalade-Ekeinde brings a juggler’s grace to her roles as actress, singer, reality-show star, mother of four and philanthropist (the Omotola Youth Empowerment Programme).

Success hasn’t spoiled Africa’s most renowned leading lady. Rather than going Hollywood, Omotola wants to stay Nollywood.

 So proud of her. Go Omosexy!!!

'HALF OF A YELLOW SUN' IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE NOLLYWOOD MOVIE

The adaptation of Chimanmanda Ngozi Adichie’s novel, ‘Half of a Yellow Sun’, is currently the most expensive movie ever made in Nollywood. The movie which was shot at Tinapa Film Studio, Cross River State and in the United Kingdom, cost approximately N1.27 billion ($8m) to make. Huge, right?

The movie was directed by Biyi Bandele and the cast include Britons and Nigerians such as Chiwetel Ejiofor (Kinky Boots, 2012, Salt); Thandie Newton (Mission: Impossible II, The Pursuit of Happiness); Anika Noni Rose (Dreamgirls, For Coloured Girls); Joseph Mawle (Women in Love, Game of Thrones); John Boyega (Attack the Block); Onyeka Onwenu, Genevieve Nnaji and Zack Orji.

The movie is yet to be released. 

ABUJA POLICE COMMISSIONER SAYS NOBODY TRIED TO KILL DINO MELAYE

The commissioner of police in Abuja, Mr Olufemi Ogunbayo, has concluded that the alleged assassination on Dino Melaye never took place. He said  Melaye reported the incident, but the police could not find evidence of an assassination attempt at the alleged crime scene.

According to him,  the ex-lawmaker said he was on his way home from the National Hospital, Abuja in his air conditioned  car, all windows wound up, and was listening to cool music when he noticed a range rover sport golf car drive past his.

Titi and hubby, Gbemileke welcomed a set of twin girls yesterday, 15 April. They are both OAPs; Titi at Inspiration fm and Gbemileke formely at Inspiration fm but now at City fm. The broadcasters got married in April 2012. Big congrats to them.

DINO MELAYE ESCAPES ASSASINATION ATTEMPT IN ABUJA

Honourable Dino Melaye survived an assassination attempt by unknown men in Abuja yesterday evening. The car he was driving in was shot at several times but luckily, it was a bullet proof car (pictured above) and he managed to escape unhurt. The Kogi State born social activist and alleged Bisi Ibidapo Obe’s baby daddy was heading to his Wuse home when the incident occurred. Thank God for him. El-Rufai also confirmed this on twitter.
