SIX PEOPLE KILLED IN ATTACK ON A CHURCH IN YOBE

One year after: People pray near the graves of victims of the Madalla Christmas suicide bomb attack last year

Gunmen attacked a church in Piri Village of Potiskum Local Government area of Yobe state, this morning around 2am during a midnight mass which started on Christmas Eve, killing six people including the pastor, before setting the building ablaze. Eye witness accounts claim that the worshippers of ECWA Church, Piri, were in a prayer session when the unknown gun men suspected to be Boko Haram sect stormed the church killing six of them.

“A group of gunmen came into the village at midnight and went straight to the church.“They opened fire on them, killing the pastor and five worshippers. They then set fire to the church,” said Usman Mansir, a resident of Peri village near Potiskum in Yobe state. The Police Public Relations Officer in Yobe State, Salihu Adamu (DSP) who confirmed the incident. Piri is a village outskirt of Potiskum and predominantly an indigenous Christian settlement.

This is coming just when families of the victims of St Theresa’s Church Christmas day bombing in Madalla, Abuja, are remebering the relatives they lost in the suicide bomb attack last Christmas. This is wrong, Christmas shouldn't be a time to mourn. Can't wait for this country to go back to it's peaceful days.

LASTMA OFFICIALS KILL LAGOS BUS DRIVER

A 54 year old commercial bus driver Isaac Popoola, was yesterday killed by a Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, official at Brown Bus stop in Oshodi, around 6.30a.m. Narrating what led to the death of Popoola, his conductor, Aremu Salau, who’s is 56 years old, said that they loaded the bus with 17 passengers from Isheri heading towards Oshodi, when about seven LASTMA, officials double crossed their bus.

According to them, it's their way of giving back to the society and preaching about sex education to teenagers.

"We are great believers in the fact that the youth are the leaders of tomorrow and have to learn from a young age that if you can't abstain, you have to play safe. But not only that, we are looking at it from the concept of family planning, of teenage pregnancies and putting a stop to it. Every pregnant teenager in our society is another teenager that has to stop schooling in order to handle the situation they find themselves in. Great idea but it's not giving back to the society when users have to pay for it. That's called business.

HOLLYWOOD ACTOR, DENZELE WASHINGTON TO ARRIVE NIGERIA NEXT WEEK

Yaay, one of my favorite actors of all time is coming into Nigeria. I seriously have a crush on this guy, but unfortunately, he is still very much in love with his wife after sooo many years of marriage. Hollywood actor, Denzel Washington, is expected to arrive in Nigeria next week to take part in the shooting of Spider Basket, a new movie funded by Nigerian businessman, Dennis Osadebe.

Osadebe himself arrived in Nigeria from his base in Turkey last Friday in company with his Turkish partner, Abdulkadir Erkahraman. Osadebe’s decision to invest in the entertainment industry appears to be driven by his faith in the abundant talents in the country. “Denzel is just one of many Hollywood stars that I want to witness the talents in this country and to impact significantly on Nollywood. Others are coming. My second movie, By Fire by Force, is due to be premiered this month,” he says.

Osadebe’s DCS Entertainment has signed up two Nigerian artistes, Wandy Boy and V2K.

RIHANNA DONATES $1.7M TO A HOSPITAL IN BARBADOS IN HONOUR OF LATE GRANMA

Rihanna, who is currently in Barbados, her home country, to spend Christmas with her family, has donated $1.75 million to a Barbados a hospital in memory of her Gran Gran Dolly. Now that's the spirit of Christmas.

WIZ KID AND CHRIS BROWN AT EKO HOTEL LAST NIGHT + PICS OF CHRIS' ACCOMMODATION IN LAGOS

Wizkid and Chris collaborated on stage at Chris Brown's concert at Eko Hotel last night. Also, Chris Brown was really impressed with the palatial mansion he was lodged in after giving a good account of himself at the concert which took place at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, yesterday.

The 23-year-old posted photos of himself standing and looking in awe, then later playing with dalmatian dogs in the unidentified building with the caption: “This house I’m at in Nigeria is big as f–k!” See the pics after the cut...

Will we ever be rid of jungle justice in this country? Seriously, don't people reflect on past mistakes and events? The Aluu 4 boys who were killed in PH turned out to be innocent but unfortunately, four very promising lives were cut short for NOTHING! Nobody is guilty until proven so by the court of law. On Friday, a man suspected to be a motorcyclist thief was set ablaze by angry youths at a workers’ village, along Kilema Doma road in Lafia, Nasarawa State, while allegedly trying to snatch a motorcycle.

Elisany da Cruz Silva, 17, holds the record of the world’s tallest teen girl at 6ft 8in. But apparently boys don't seem to find her height intimidating, at least, not her boyfriend Francinaldo da Silva Carvalho, 22, who stands at 5ft 4in.
