Former Destiny's Child Michelle Williams was in Nigeria last weekend for a gospel musical event - The Experience 2012 which held in Lagos Dec 7th. She came with her Nigerian NFL Footballer Adewale Ogunleye. She dressed up in Iro and buba and beautifully sang our National Anthem.

NIGERIA'S WORLD TRADE CENTER TO OPEN IN 2013

The FCT Administration is partnering with the Churchgate Group to build one of the most gigantic structures in Africa – the World Trade Centre. The Minister of FCT, Bala Mohammed announced this at the construction site of the project in Abuja. The project is to attract more foreign direct investment to the FCT. When completed, the edifice would be the tallest building on the African continent with facilities like office accommodation, entertainment and recreational facilities, world-class conference room, shopping mall, service apartments, among others.

 

The World Trade Centre Project covers about 62,000 square meters and will consist of a twin tower of thirty seven floors and three basements and is currently providing employment for about one thousand people working at the construction site. The project is being executed at a cost of $1.2billion. Not bad at all, impressive even. I just pray it isn't abandoned half way. Pics of the on-going project after the cut...

9-YEAR-OLD AND 22-YEAR OLD GIRLS NEED N2.5M TO BATTLE CANCER

Nine-year-old Eniola Adepitan and 22-year-old Omolara Onibudo are not relatives, but they both suffer from cancer and need help urgently for trearment. Eniola suffers from cancer of the bone, while Omolara has cancer of the lip. Hundreds of thousands of naira has been spent on them yet their problem persists.

 According to Omolara, “In May 2010, I discovered that I had a wound on my upper lip then I started bleeding from the affected lip. I sought medical attention at the Epe General Hospital, Epe, Lagos State, before I was referred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. “After undergoing different tests and medical examinations, I was diagnosed with cancer of the lips. Due to the fact that my parents are aged and have since stopped working, my siblings are the ones doing the running around for me. 

They have spent hundreds of thousands of naira they borrowed from people and unfortunately, there is no hope of getting more money.” “The last money we paid at the hospital was N150, 000 for drugs, tests and x-rays and it’s almost exhausted. The doctors would in the next few days cut some samples of my lips to enable them to carry out some medical examinations preparatory to surgery.” Omolara, who dropped out of secondary school in 2010 as a result of the problem is appealing to the general public for financial support.

OMOTOLA JALADE EKEINDE ON PLASTIC SURGERY

Nollywood A-list actress and mother of four, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, admitted that she is considering cosmetic surgery.

“Seriously I am thinking about it. I have four kids. “That has taken its toll on my body. I am not against plastic surgery as long as you’re not doing it for extremely vain reasons. “If you need it, you should do it. If I see any irregularities in my body that I cannot control, I will do it.” - Omotola.

AKWA IBOM RECORDS HIGH RATE OF HIV INFECTION

The Medical Director, Universal Medicare Foundation, Oseikhuemen Ejele, has expressed concerns about the rising incidence of HIV/AIDS in Akwa Ibom State. According to him, the test conducted on 77 people in the state, showed that four of them had been infected by the HIV. Which leaves the state with a 5.1 per cent prevalence rate against the 4.1 national rate.  

In just one state? That's quite a high percentage. My people, biko, this a totally preventable deadly disease, enough has been said about using protection when having sex and also, be careful around sharp objects that have been used by others. Let's bring this number down to 0 out of 77. A word is enough for the wise.

UPCOMING FEMALE ARTISTE BRUTALLY STABBED BY LANDLORD'S SON

 Upcoming Nigeria female singer Tiwa Banks was allegedly stabbed by one of her landlord’s sons identified as Tobi Obadina, yesterday. According to a close friend of the artiste, Tiwa and Tobi had a misunderstanding during the day but Tobi  waited till night to attack her. He allegedly badged into her apartment, which is located around Iyana-Ipaja area of Lagos State, broke a bottle on her head  and  stabbed her with the broken bottle as well as her brother and a neighbor who met Tobi at the scene. Tiwa was in a pool of blood while she was rushed to the hospital by some of her neighbors.

A friend of Tiwa says Tobi, who is feared in the neighborhood because he terrorizes residents, has been boasting since the incident saying he cannot be arrested because he is the son of an ex-officer. I hope his ass is arrested and prosecuted. The police shouldn't wait until thugs like this kill before they are arrested and prosecuted.

LADIES, D'BANJ IS NOT SINGLE

 

D' banj, 31, said  this during a live interview at the ‘Tymeout With Tee A’ concert on Saturday, 1^st December. He is in a relationship contrary to the general assumption that he isn’t. He is definitely doing a great job of keeping it under wraps.

‘Even when I tell them I’m single, they don’t believe. So these days, I tell them what they want to hear. I mean look at me, at the stage, would you expect that I won’t be seeing anyone?’ He said. What a shame. #sadface#

7 YEAR-OLD BOY MUTILATED WHILE TRYING TO MAIM HIM SO HE CAN EARN MORE AS A BEGGAR

This story brought tears to my eyes as did the movie 'Slum Dog Millionaire' but worse because it happened for real. A seven-year-old boy was grabbed from the street by strangers to maim him so he would elicit more sympathy working for them as a beggar. But when he recognised the men from his area and told them he would report them to his father, they decided to torture him, cutting off his penis and leaving him for dead on the streets of Bangladesh. 

 In some South Asian countries, the prevalence of 'beggar mafias' is becoming increasingly common. The practice was portrayed in the 2008 movie Slumdog Millionaire, in which a child in Mumbai, India, is intentionally blinded so he could bring in more money. Pls continue to read after the cut...

She's feeding two tiger cubs with her breast milk! Hla Htay, 40, a wet nurse who works at the Yangon Zoological Gardens in Burma said she felt sorry for the animals and was willing to offer her breast milk until the cubs grew teeth. WTH?

LAPTOP AND LCD TVS SHARED AS SOUVENIRS AT VICE PRESIDENT SAMBO'S DAUGHTERS' WEDDING

Yep! You heard right. Laptops, LCD Tvs and other 'not so cheap' items were given as souvenirs at the wedding of Huwaila and Aisha, the lovely daughters of Vice President Namadi Sambo. The event, referred to as 'Mothers Night' is the first ceremony of the two-city wedding of daughters and it took place at the International Conference Center (ICC), Abuja on Saturday 1st December.  The Nikkai is holding today in Kaduna. Aisha is wedding Mukhtar while her sister, Hauwila, will be joined with Awalu.
