MOTHER OF BAYELSA'S ASSEMBLY LEADER KIDNAED BY UN KNOWN GUNMEN


Mrs. Esther Akpe, the 59-year-old mother of the leader of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Mr. Peter Akpe, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.  Mrs. Akpe, was kidnapped on Monday night between 9 and 10pm by five armed gunmen from her residence at Ebedebiri in Sagbama Local Government Area of the state.

The gunmen came through the river around her residence and disappeared through same route. The woman was sitting outside her home, savouring fresh air, when the kidnappers stormed her home, shooting sporadically into the air to scare residents away. On hearing the sound of gunshots, she started to make her way into the house when the gunmen seized her and took her away into their speedboat and headed towards Bomadi in Delta State.

No contact had been established with the kidnappers.

MEND DENIES BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR THREAT AGAINST NIGERIA

The spokesman for Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), Jomo Gbomo,  released a statement yesterday asking Nigerians to disregard the recent threat by a  self-acclaimed leader of the group, Comrade Azizi, to unleash  mayhem in Nigeria following the jailing of Henry Okah by a South African court for terrorism. Read Jomo Gbomo's statement below;

"The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) wishes to advise Nigerians and the media to disregard the pathetic attempt at propaganda by a so-called Comrade Azizi and his statements which are not authentic and statements emanating from MEND.
"As claimed by this Comrade Azizi, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) would like to clarify the following..

"Mr Henry Okah is NOT and has never been viewed as the leader or founder of MEND but rather known as a sympathizer and supporter of our cause.

FACES OF ACTRESS NKIRU SYLVANUS' KIDNAPPERS

These are the alleged kidnappers of Nollywood actress and aide to Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, Nkiru Sylvanus and Keneth Okolie. They were paraded by the State Security Service, SSS, in Abuja yesterday. The gang was led by a police officer who was dismissed from the police unit in 2007. All six of them; Ndidi Cletus, also known as Matthew Ofurum; Stanley Asouna; Aminu Musa; Muhammed Abubakar; Obinna Okolisa and Samson Onwuka, have confessed to the crime.

The actress and former Mr Nigeria were kidnapped in Owerri, Imo State, on December 15, 2012. The kidnappers were reportedly paid N8million before they were released.

TINSEL COUPLE, ENE AND CHUKS, WED IN REALITY

From on-screen romance to getting married in reality.  Florence Uwaleke and Iyke Okechukwu who play 'Ene' and 'Chuuks' on the popular M-Net soap opera Tinsel hosted their traditional wedding ceremony on the day which was also Florence’s birthday, 25th January, 2013. The couple, who also got married on "Tinsel", bonded during those long hours on set and I bet the romantic plot-lines didn’t hurt either! Congrats to them!
